Students' grades will be based on their work and participation, including daily work, projects, labs, class activities, quizzes and tests.
Work will be weighted based on categories:
10% = Daily Work/Homework 20% = Quizzes
20% = Labs/Projects50% = Tests
Grades will then be determined by the percentage earned:
100-90% = A (exceptional work) 69-60% = D (below average work)
89-80% = B (above average work)59% or below = F (failing)
79-70% = C (average work)
QUIZ AND TEST POLICY:
Quizzes and tests MUST be retaken if student scores below a 70%. To retake the quiz or test, the student has to have completed ALL assignments leading up to the quiz or test AND the student has to resubmit the original quiz or test. To resubmit, the student must (1) write down the correct answer for a missed question and (2) write down the page number from the chapter that proves the new answer is correct. Students must retake each quiz/test a second time if the score is again below a 70% - in order to retake a second time, students will be required to complete a review packet first.
DAILY WORK/HOMEWORK/LABS/PROJECTS:
All assignments need to be turned in complete and on time to receive full credit. These pieces can be resubmitted once and must be attached to the original assignment. Late work will be accepted, but credit received will be reduced at the teacher's discretion.
A few extra credit opportunities will be available. Extra credit is not meant to "save" a student's grade, but rather give help for students looking to learn more about a subject of study. Extra credit work will not be made available for a student unless all regular class assignments have been turned in (this includes any MISSING assignments).
MISSING ASIGNMENTS:
Students' grades can be checked through Power School. Please note that any MISSING assignment should be made up over the weekend or as soon as possible. Student progress reports can be printed from Power School. Each student will have his/her own access to view grades at any time. Computer access is available daily in the school library. Parents can obtain for information about Power School through the counseling center.
