I believe that education is the mechanism used to ignite that spark within each student that shows them where they have been, causes them to see where they are now, and encourages them to see their potential to become something more.  Like the little train that could, I want my students to develop an “I know I can. I know I can.” attitude.  I have an obligation to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to be successful throughout life. 

I want my students to know that my classroom is a place where apathy is not accepted; it is a place where the students and the teacher team up to learn new things. I believe that students learn best when the teacher truly cares about them and wants them to succeed.  My goal is for students to leave my classes having grown intellectually, emotionally, and socially.  I believe the student-teacher relationship is a reciprocal one.  Just as students learn from their teachers, I believe a good teacher is one that also learns from their students.
