Over the last few weeks, we have been in candid and open discussions with both associations regarding how to best meet the needs of our students in light of the instructional time missed because of the snow in early January. Those discussions included the possibility of changing the elementary professional development day on April 28th into a regular school day and changing the secondary conference day scheduled for March 24th into a regular school day. After carefully weighing the pros and cons of making those changes, we have agreed that it is best to keep the days as scheduled. We found that changing the days at this point could be difficult for both students and staff who have made plans well in advance. Plus, a District goal is to foster hope and engagement in our community. Having face to face conversations between parents and teachers in a conference setting is one of the primary ways to have discussions about hope and engagement.
To be clear, the District will have regular, full school days on Thursday, June 15th and Friday, June 16th. No other calendar changes will be made.
