Mrs. Rogers' Principal’s Corner
Welcome to Lincoln Elementary School!
It is my true privilege to be the new Principal at Lincoln, and I am eager to get to know your child and your family! We are a team in this endeavor of both educating your child and developing their character. I am committed, along with the Lincoln team, to caring for your child as an individual. All children deserve an excellent education, and we are invested in both the academic success and emotional well-being of your child. Let’s BUILD THEM UP with love each and every day at home and at school! Doing so will develop feelings of confidence, competence, and will help them persevere at moments when the process of learning feels difficult.
It is our honor to play a shaping role in your child’s life!
Educational Background and Career Experience:
I am passionate about education and all of the doors it has opened for me and can open for your child too!!
I graduated from Newport High School on the Oregon coast in 2000 and went to Linfield College for my B.A. in Elementary Education. While at Linfield, my campus work-study position was at the on-site preschool (Linfield Pre-K). Lynne Diesel was the lead teacher of the program, and the three years I spent learning from her were invaluable and laid a solid foundation for my career. After graduating from Linfield, I took my first official teaching job in the McMinnville School District teaching 4th grade. My principal during those years was Sara Johnson, who was named Oregon Elementary Principal of the year during our time together. In my third year of teaching, I returned to college to pursue my Master’s degree in School Counseling from Lewis and Clark College. I was a school counselor at Duniway Middle School in the McMinnville School District for 9 years and worked alongside and was mentored by my principal, Cathy Carnahan, who in 2011 was named National Middle School Principal of the Year. The mentoring I have received has shaped me into the leader that I am today! I became a first-year principal in the 2016-17 school year in the Dallas School District. Finally, I moved to Southern Oregon last summer to live with my fiance. I had the great honor to work at the Gladiola Campus for the 2017-18 school year, during which time, I completed the Doctor of Education program at George Fox University. I am proud to work alongside the experienced and dedicated Lincoln staff this year, and I look forward to all that we will accomplish together for your child in the 2018-19 school year!!
My Family and History:
I am originally from Grayland, WA and grew up in a commercial fishing family with my four brothers. I am named after my grandma, and this has always been a special part of my life story and identity. I love the Pacific Northwest and being active in the outdoors, and I am learning more about this new region each and every day! I moved to Southern Oregon last summer in order to live with my fiancé, whom I just married in Maui in July. I have a six-year-old son named Brody, and he is the light of my life! I love being a mom! We stay busy on the weekends crabbing, camping, hiking, and spending time together as a family.
I feel truly blessed to work in this community! GP has HEART, and I am inspired by the district's vision, as well as by the educators who give their all for children each and every day.
All Kids = Our Kids
