In an effort to be more energy-efficient, the Grants Pass School District upgraded old lighting fixtures to LEDs. With the help of an Energy Trust of Oregon grant, LEDs were installed in every single building throughout the district. That’s about 9,000 lamps and fixtures!

Approximately $80,000 will be saved in energy costs as a result of the upgrades.

The Oregon Department of Energy estimates the new lighting will save nearly 800,000 kilowatt hours of electricity annually. That’s enough to power about 75 homes for a year.

Grants Pass School District 7 is also installing HVAC systems at Allen Dale Elementary School, Highland Elementary School, Riverside Elementary School, North Middle School, and South Middle School.
