GPFLEX: New Virtual School Launching Fall 2021
GRANTS PASS, Ore. – Grants Pass School District 7 is pleased to announce its new virtual school is opening for the 2021-2022 school year.
Grants Pass Flexible Learning EXperience (GPFLEX) is Grants Pass’ first truly virtual school experience for students and families. Designed to meet the needs of families who want most of their children’s learning experiences to be from home, it’s the ideal school to balance at-home learning with public education opportunities.
“GPFLEX is exactly that, it’s flexible,” Dr. Todd Bloomquist, Director of School Improvement for the Grants Pass School District says, “Students and their families will enjoy the flexibility of self-paced, at-home learning while still having access to in-person classes and activities within Grants Pass School District 7 schools.”
GPFLEX provides education opportunities for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade, serving ages 5 through 19 (and even age 21 in some cases). It is a fully state-accredited school and meets Oregon State requirements for a high school diploma.
“Each student will have a Personal Education Plan (PEP) that is customized to meet their needs and their learning journey,” Director Bloomquist says, “Key components of the PEP include student interests, strengths and talents inventory, ratio of computer adaptive learning with live virtual instruction, in-person learning opportunities, and career and college preparedness.”
Learning environments for GPFLEX range from entirely online and virtual to a mix of online and in-person. Students and families meet with their teachers to work through the right balance for students. And, as students change and develop, so does their learning experience. Each term, every student’s PEP is adjusted to make sure the learning environment is the best match for students.
Registration for new and returning students opens Monday, April 5, 2021. Families interested in learning more about GPFLEX are invited to attend a virtual open house Monday, April 5, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
