Flu Season is Here

A note from our District Nurse:

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have seen an increase in numbers of students out with the flu and flu like illness.  We want to make you aware so you can monitor your young person for signs of illness and keep them home when appropriate.

Please keep your student home if they have a fever of 100 ̊ F or higher and a cough or sore throat.  They should stay home until their fever has been gone for 24 hours without fever reducing medications (such as Tylenol or Advil). Vomiting and diarrhea are other symptoms that require exclusion from school.

Contact your medical provider if you have concern about your young person’s symptoms.  They may prescribe antivirals to prevent complications.

If you haven’t already, now is a good time to consider getting a flu vaccination for your young person and others in your home.

Good handwashing is important for the prevention of spreading the flu.  For more information about preventing the flu see the following site:

Please let me know if you have any questions.
