Alternative Education Programs

Alternative education programs are defined as “a separate school or separate class group designed to assist students to achieve the goals of the curriculum in a manner consistent with their learning styles and needs.  In implementing alternative education programs, district school boards shall maintain learning situations that are flexible with regard to environment, time, structure, and pedagogy.”

The goal of Grants Pass School District 7's alternative education programs is to provide opportunities to better serve the individual student’s needs and interests within district and state academic standards.  Students are recommended for alternative education when there are slots available, and these recommendations are prioritized based on student need. Placement in alternative education programs must be approved by the administration at your student's neighborhood school, using the criteria stated above. Students and parents should talk with their counselor or principal for more information.
